This is a contribution from one of my “Entreplink” contacts - Froi Gajudo.
Froi is a Programmer and operates his own computer shop. He experienced the ups, downs and going back up again in his journey to Entrepreneurship. He got married and they now have a baby girl. That’s the last I heard from him though.
I just want to publish this contribution of his when I asked him about his eCommerce - Online Payment experience. Some of you might find it “handy” although this has been from a few years back.
Would you like to compare notes and share your Online Payment Experience with us?
Mabuhay!

“this is all about online payment transactions, #1 and #2 are international
payments via credit card transactions, #3 local payment via savings/debit
account transactions, #4 is utility bills payment using citibank credit card.
i have tried purchasing a domain name a few months ago from a company dotster
for 700+php and used my jcb credit card (which has a smaller credit limit in
case i am hacked) as a form of payment and here is a list of what i found.
1. for jcb cards, only 3 fields are required: complete name, credit card
number, and complete billing address, and the transaction is done! no turning
back, therefore always keep your billing address a secret.
2. for master/visa cards, 4 fields are required: complete name, credit card
number, complete billing address, and the last 3 digits at the back of your
card, so guys and gals with credit cards, you know what to do.
3. nso is already online, you can request your birth certificate to be delivered
at your door step, you should be there, or your parents, or else they will just
issue a letter “we just missed you!”
they accept online payments, the cost will be 600php and will be delivered via
aboitiz, they use yehey paypal as payment gateway, another first from yehey, i
paid thru my rcbc savings account, as far as i remember, i registered my email
address along with my rcbc savings account # and the pin….
4. you can now pay your handyphone bills (globe, smart), other credit cards
(standard chartered, AIG, etc.), with ur citibank mastercard or visa mastercard
thru citibank website.
tips:
1. use paypal, the yehey paypal is much more secure in terms of pin entry
since you enter your pin, by clicking the visual images of numbers from the
screen, avoiding using keyboard as an entry point, since most hackers uses keystrokes to
their advantage.
2. register your payroll atms instead, to minimize lost in case the hackers had
developed already a program to “see” the images of the numbers you are clickin
:-)
3. use personal computers, dont use public computers, in doing payment
transactions, to avoid keyloggers (a program that saves anything you typed from
the moment the computer started, these password theft are well known in the
ragnarok online community)
4. for credit card payments, use your card with the smallest credit limit, to
mimimize lost.
5. in case the hacker already got ur billing address use mastercard/visa if you
have the same credit limit with jcb, it will be difficult for them to check the
last 3 digits at the back of your card if its in your pocket always.
so guys and gals! congratulations! you just graduated the introductory course on
hacking!

I am a frustrated photographer. That’s it, frustrated.
I worked as a merchandiser before and my job included taking photos of the products that I needed to send to my buyers for consideration. During my first years, I would just prop the samples to one place and shoot them with our SLRs, have them developed then glued to the quote sheets and send to the buyers. Boy, we normally use up 5 rolls of film per set of offers!
Then of course, came the digital cameras. I started feeling more “sophisticated” then… he he.. Started setting up a “studio” in our showroom and got different fabrics from the apparel division to use as backdrops.
Got to practice more on a digital camera since I would just delete and re-shoot without spending much for rolls of films and having them developed only to find out in the end that I didn’t take great shots.
So, what happened then? We only kept 1 SLR and started getting digital cameras for each merchandisers and QC people. What did we do with the old cameras? None.. kept them to sort of “rot”, that is, until they were fully “depreciated”.
So I’m sure, just like everybody else, acquiring digital cameras has been practiced and then one either gives away or throws away their old cameras. But now, you can actually List your camera for free at Camera World Auction.
Being an advocate of eCommerce, it really is nice to see sites that would really work for online consumers. Camera World Auction is another online tool that we may use! They have a platform that seeks to be a global marketplace for distributors, wholesalers, retailers, vendors, individual buyers and sellers to buy and sell cameras, camcorders and related camera and video accessories.
Lots of cameras on hand? Don’t know what to do with them? List your camera for free at Camera World Auction and who knows? You may be able to still convert them to cash and get yourself a fairly new one.

Well, not so much from the local market. There are certain issues that may be traded in its range but this is for those who has the time to really watch the market.
Being an Absolute Trader, some of its members worked on being able to apply what they have learned in the US Market where “shorting” is allowed. “Short selling or “shorting” is the practice of selling securities the seller does not then own, in the hope of repurchasing them later at a lower price. This is done in an attempt to profit from an expected decline in price of a security, such as a stock or a bond, in contrast to the ordinary investment practice, where an investor “goes long,” purchasing a security in the hope the price will rise…This allows an investor to gain from the decline in price of a security.” (Wikipedia.org).
This is explained well by Zandro in his article How to Profit When Stock Prices Fall . This is a proof that Technical Analysis really works and can be applied to the different markets. It does help one to be an “Absolute Trader”.
Imagine that, making one’s money work even in a bear market.

Because we should learn how to effectively make our networks work!
But first, let’s be clear on these terminologies, that we may be able to appreciate it more -
“A social network is a social structure made of nodes (which are generally individuals or organizations) that are tied by one or more specific types of interdependency, such as values, visions, idea, financial exchange, friends, kinship, dislike, conflict, trade, web links, sexual relations, disease transmission (epidemiology), or airline routes. The resulting structures are often very complex.”
“Electronic Business, commonly referred to as “eBusiness” or “e-Business”, may be defined broadly as any business process that relies on an automated information system. Today, this is mostly done with Web-based technologies.”
Still need more? Go to http://socialnetworkphilippines.blogspot.com/
We hear the term and use Web 2.0 technology everywhere. But do we really know how to maximize it as a tool to our Social Network and Businesses? I know that learning more and keeping up to date with these activities will help me in marketing and continue develop businesses using the internet, mobile and of course, widen my network. Oh yes, I want to be at the Social Networking and eBusiness Conference Philippines 2008.
This event is made possible by Digital Filipino and Fierra de Manila and will be attended by people from the following industries: Marketing, IT, Advertising, Bloggers, Social Networkers and most especially, those involved in using the internet and mobile services (as marketing/advertising tools).
Let us all make our network work!

Honda launches VCM 643 I saw this, read it, but needed my friend to just explain it to me in simple terms. I just “drive” and have no idea on the “cool” side of cars other than its looks.
He summed it up for me: “3.5L, that’s a powerful engine. In a word, versatile.”
Hmmm.. powerful and versatile eh? He went on: “Imagine having three types of engines in one car. It’s not really a new technology, other car manufacturers have used it in their cars under different names, the common name of which is’ variable displacement.’ The benefit of this technology is that it combines fuel economy and power in one engine. For a 3.5 L, V6 engine, each cylinder has a displacement of 0.58L, so that during 4- and 3-cylinder operation, the displacement of the engine becomes around 2.3 and 1.75, respectively. Engine size with the correct load and driving conditions translate to fuel efficiency and economy.”
Leave it to my friend to go on explaining.. he he.. especially when he gets excited.
Well, whatever they call it, the “having three types of engines in one car” got me really interested. Not so sure about the computation he mentioned but it still sounded good to me! I mean, it was simple enough for me to get it.
But of course, he had to tell me of some possible disadvantages as well (which is, mind you all, based on what he knows – my friend after all is not a mechanic): uneven wear of cylinders and pistons, especially if it’s running on 4 most of the time, which may affect balance when it runs on all cylinders. And that some local mechanics might have difficulty with fixing its complex engine on the onset. Hmmmm.. I’m sure that Honda would have solutions for these.
Oh, well, I “just” drive. But, if I am to acquire an asset for traveling, a transportation with a “powerful engine” is definitely the one that’ I’ll be getting.
See for yourself and check out: Honda launches the VCM 643.
